If you no longer need a custom domain connected to Bouncy, you can remove it from your account. This guide explains the process and what happens to your links.
Before You Remove a Domain
Consider the following before removing a custom domain:
Links using this domain will stop working β Any deeplinks, app links, or websites using this domain will no longer resolve. Visitors will see an error page.
This action cannot be undone β You'll need to go through the full setup process again if you want to reconnect the domain later.
Analytics data is preserved β Your historical analytics for links on this domain are not deleted.
How to Remove a Domain
Go to Custom Domains in the sidebar
Find the domain you want to remove in your domain list
Click the options menu (three dots or action button) next to the domain
Select Remove or Delete
Confirm the removal when prompted
The domain will be removed immediately and your plan's domain slot will be freed up.
What Happens to Links on the Removed Domain?
When you remove a custom domain:
All links created with that domain become inaccessible to visitors
The links are not deleted from your account β they still appear in your dashboard
You can edit these links to use a different domain (bouncy.ai, a system domain, or another custom domain) to make them active again
After Removing the Domain
Clean Up DNS Records
Once you've removed the domain from Bouncy, you may want to remove the DNS records you added at your registrar:
Remove the A record (for root domains) or CNAME record (for subdomains) pointing to Bouncy
Remove the
_bouncyTXT verification record
This is optional but recommended to keep your DNS configuration clean.
Reconnect Later
If you decide to reconnect the domain in the future, you'll need to:
Add the domain again in Bouncy
Set up DNS records (you may be able to reuse existing ones)
Verify the domain
Update your links to use the reconnected domain
Removing a Domain Purchased Through Bouncy
If you purchased the domain through Bouncy's domain marketplace, removing it from Bouncy does not cancel your domain registration. You still own the domain, and it will still renew according to your renewal settings.
To manage your purchased domain's registration, see Managing a Purchased Domain.
