Understanding Link Types — Deeplink vs App Link vs Website

Written by Bouncy Admin
Updated this week

Your Dashboard shows three types of links, each with its own icon and purpose.

Deeplink

A standard smart link that redirects visitors to any destination URL. Deeplinks can use bounce behavior to open content in native apps.

How to identify: Shown with a link icon. The destination URL is displayed directly.

Best for: Any URL you want to share — social profiles, landing pages, products, content.

Create: Click Create Deeplink in the sidebar.

App Link

A specialized link built from a pre-defined app template. Instead of entering a raw URL, you select an app (like Instagram or TikTok) and fill in specific parameters (like a username).

How to identify: Shown with the app's icon. The destination displays the app name, template name, and parameters (e.g., "Instagram > User Profile > @username").

Best for: Linking directly to specific content within apps — profiles, posts, playlists, videos.

Create: Click Create App Link in the sidebar.

Website

A landing page built using Bouncy's Website Builder. Websites are hosted on Bouncy and typically used as "Link in Bio" pages.

How to identify: Shown with a website/globe icon. The context menu shows "Edit Website" and "Duplicate Website" instead of the deeplink equivalents.

Best for: Bio link pages with multiple links, social icons, and branding.

Create: Click Create Website in the sidebar.
