Exporting Analytics as PDF or CSV

Written by Bouncy Admin
Updated this week

Bouncy lets you export your analytics data from the Global Dashboard so you can share reports, archive performance data, or run your own analysis in external tools. Two export formats are available: CSV and PDF.

Availability

Analytics export is available on paid plans only as part of the Global Dashboard feature.

Where to Find Export Options

Export options are located on the Global Dashboard page (/global-dashboard). Look for the export buttons near the top of the page, typically next to the time range and timezone selectors.

Exporting as CSV

What Is a CSV File?

A CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file is a plain text file where data is organized into rows and columns, separated by commas. It can be opened by virtually any spreadsheet application.

How to Export CSV

  1. Go to the Global Dashboard

  2. Set your desired time range (the export will include data for the selected period)

  3. Set your desired timezone (data will be grouped according to this timezone)

  4. Click the CSV export button

  5. The file will download automatically to your computer

What the CSV Includes

The CSV export contains your aggregate analytics data for the selected time range, including:

  • Date or time period

  • View counts per period

  • Link-level breakdowns

Using the CSV File

Once downloaded, you can:

  • Open in Excel or Google Sheets — double-click the file or import it to start working with the data

  • Create custom charts — use pivot tables and chart tools to visualize data in ways specific to your needs

  • Combine with other data — merge Bouncy analytics with data from other sources (ad spend, revenue, etc.) for comprehensive reporting

  • Run calculations — compute metrics that Bouncy doesn't display, like cost-per-click if you have ad spend data

  • Share with team members — attach the CSV to emails or upload to shared drives

Tips for Working with CSV Data

  1. Check the date format. When importing into a spreadsheet, make sure dates are recognized correctly. If they appear as plain text, you may need to format the column as dates.

  2. Use consistent time ranges. If you export monthly, always use the same time range definition (e.g., "Last Month" or a custom range matching calendar months) for easier comparison over time.

  3. Archive exports regularly. Since analytics data can change with timezone adjustments, keeping monthly CSV snapshots gives you a reliable historical record.

Exporting as PDF

What Is the PDF Export?

The PDF export generates a formatted document that visually resembles the Global Dashboard page. It captures your stats, charts, and other visual elements into a clean, shareable report.

How to Export PDF

  1. Go to the Global Dashboard

  2. Set your desired time range and timezone

  3. Click the PDF export button

  4. The PDF will be generated and downloaded to your computer

What the PDF Includes

The PDF report captures the visual state of your Global Dashboard, including:

  • Aggregate stats (Total Views, Active Links, Avg Views per Link, Growth)

  • The performance chart as a visual image

  • Top Performers list

  • The selected time range and timezone settings

How the PDF Is Generated

Bouncy generates the PDF using a screen-capture approach — it takes a snapshot of the dashboard as rendered in your browser and converts it into a PDF document. This means the PDF looks very similar to what you see on screen, including chart colors and layout.

Best Practices for PDF Export

  1. Set the right time range before exporting. The PDF captures exactly what's on screen, so make sure your time range is set to the period you want to report on.

  2. Choose the appropriate timezone. If your report is for a client in a different timezone, switch to their timezone before exporting so the data aligns with their perspective.

  3. Use PDF for presentations. The visual format makes PDF reports ideal for meetings, client presentations, and executive summaries.

  4. Use CSV for analysis. If you need to work with the underlying numbers, CSV is more flexible than PDF. Use PDF when you need a polished visual report.

Common Export Scenarios

Monthly Client Report

  1. At the start of each month, go to the Global Dashboard

  2. Set the time range to Last Month

  3. Set the timezone to the client's timezone

  4. Export as PDF for a visual report

  5. Export as CSV for supplementary raw data

  6. Send both to the client

Quarterly Performance Review

  1. Set a custom date range covering the quarter (e.g., January 1 - March 31)

  2. Export as CSV

  3. Open in a spreadsheet to compare against previous quarters

Ad Campaign Analysis

  1. Set a custom date range matching your campaign dates

  2. Export as CSV

  3. Combine with your ad platform's spending data in a spreadsheet

  4. Calculate cost-per-click and ROI

Archiving Data

  1. At the end of each month, export a CSV of the previous month

  2. Save to a dedicated folder on your computer or cloud storage

  3. Over time, you build a complete historical record you can reference anytime

Troubleshooting

Export Button Not Visible

Make sure you are on a paid plan. Export features are not available on the free tier.

PDF Looks Different Than Expected

The PDF is generated from the current screen state. If the chart hasn't fully loaded or the page hasn't finished rendering, the PDF may capture an incomplete view. Wait a few seconds after the dashboard loads before clicking export.

CSV Opens With Incorrect Formatting

Some spreadsheet applications may not automatically detect the CSV delimiter. If data appears in a single column, use the "Text to Columns" feature (Excel) or the import wizard to specify comma as the delimiter.
