What is a Custom Domain and Why Use One?

A custom domain lets you use your own domain name (e.g., links.yourbrand.com or go.yourbrand.com) for your Bouncy deeplinks, app links, and websites instead of the default bouncy.ai domain.

How It Works

When you connect a custom domain to Bouncy, all links created with that domain are served through Bouncy's infrastructure. Your visitors see your brand name in the URL — not Bouncy's.

Example:

  • Without a custom domain: bouncy.ai/summer-sale

  • With a custom domain: go.yourbrand.com/summer-sale

Why Use a Custom Domain?

Brand Recognition

Your audience sees your brand in every link you share. This builds trust and increases click-through rates — people are more likely to click a link from a domain they recognize.

Professional Appearance

Custom domains give your links a polished, professional look. Whether you're sharing links on social media, in email campaigns, or on printed materials, branded links stand out.

Consistent Branding

Every touchpoint with your audience reinforces your brand identity. Custom domains ensure your links match the rest of your online presence.

Higher Click-Through Rates

Studies consistently show that branded short links receive more clicks than generic ones. Visitors feel more confident clicking a link from a recognizable domain.

Link Trust

Generic short URLs can look suspicious. A custom domain reassures visitors that the link is legitimate and safe to click.

Custom domains are available on paid plans only. Free plan users can use the default bouncy.ai domain and system/specialty domains (on paid plans).

What Types of Domains Can I Use?

You can connect two types of domains:

  • Root domains — e.g., yourbrand.com

  • Subdomains — e.g., links.yourbrand.com, go.yourbrand.com

Both work equally well. Subdomains are popular because they let you keep your main website on the root domain while using a subdomain for your Bouncy links.

Do I Need to Own the Domain?

Yes. You must own the domain (or have DNS access to it) to connect it to Bouncy. During setup, you'll need to add DNS records to verify ownership.

Can I Buy a Domain Through Bouncy?

Yes! Bouncy offers a built-in domain marketplace where you can search and purchase domains across 30+ TLDs without leaving the platform. Domains bought through Bouncy have DNS automatically configured — no manual setup required.
