Why Does My Link Show an Adult Content Warning?

Written by Bouncy Admin
Updated this week

If your Bouncy deeplink displays an adult content warning page before redirecting users, this is an intentional safety feature. This article explains why it happens and what you can do about it.

Why the Warning Appears

Bouncy includes a content classification system that detects and flags links pointing to adult or explicit content. When a link is classified as containing adult content, an intermediate warning page is displayed before the user is redirected.

This warning page:

  • Informs the user that the link leads to adult content.

  • Requires the user to confirm they are of legal age before proceeding.

  • Helps protect underage users from being exposed to inappropriate content.

How Links Are Classified

Bouncy may classify a link as adult content based on:

  • The destination URL domain or path.

  • The content or metadata of the destination page.

  • Manual review by the Bouncy team.

  • Settings you configured when creating the deeplink (marking it as adult content).

What the Warning Page Looks Like

The adult content warning uses a specialised template that:

  • Displays a clear warning message about the nature of the content.

  • Provides an age verification prompt.

  • Allows the user to proceed or go back.

Can I Remove the Warning?

If your content is NOT adult content

If you believe your link has been incorrectly flagged, you can:

  1. Review the destination URL to make sure it does not inadvertently point to adult content.

  2. Check the deeplink settings in your editor to see if the adult content flag has been set.

  3. If the flag is set on your deeplink, toggle it off (if applicable) and re-publish.

  4. If you believe it was flagged in error, contact Bouncy support with your link URL and an explanation. The team will review and reclassify if appropriate.

If your content IS adult content

The warning page cannot be removed for genuinely adult content. This is a platform-wide safety requirement that protects users and keeps Bouncy in compliance with legal and platform policies.

Best Practices for Adult Content Links

  • Always mark your links as adult content when creating them, if applicable. This ensures the correct warning template is used.

  • Provide clear, honest descriptions in your link metadata.

  • Comply with all applicable laws regarding adult content in your jurisdiction and your users' jurisdictions.
